It was an idea hatched over dinner one night – and resulted in a whopping $30,000 collected to fight the scourge of cancer.

The PGG Punjabi Golf Group and members of Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club hosted a golf tournament on July 27 in support of the BC Cancer Foundation.

The idea for the golf tournament came about while a group of members was having dinner one night after playing a round of golf at the club.  Several of the group’s players have been golfing together for nearly 25 years, and thought it would be a great idea to collectively support a cause that they all felt was very important to them.

From there on, three of the group’s members – Charan Grewal, Harminder Sian, and Bill Cheema – took charge of organizing the tournament.

The tournament was a huge success, raising over $30,000 for cancer research and treatment for the BC Cancer Foundation.

The group plans to continue this tournament as a yearly tradition, and hopes to increase its contribution to the cause in coming years.
