SURREY – NDP Critic for Immigration, Citizenship and Multiculturalism, Jinny Sims (Newton-North Delta) is disappointed that the Conservatives have chosen to politicise Monday night’s tragic shooting in Toronto.
Immigration Minister Jason Kenney took to Twitter Thursday night to assert that: “Foreign gangsters should be deported without delay.” He then went on to boast about another piece of Conservative legislation.
“This was a devastating event, and the focus should be on the victims, their families, and their communities,” Sims said. “Without knowing the facts, the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism took a leap and implied that the ‘gangsters’ involved in the Toronto shooting were ‘foreign’. What kind of a message does he send to Canada’s diverse population when he makes assumptions like this?”
