LADNER North Delta resident Parmjit Mann joined roughly 300 other Indo-Canadians at the Delta Municipal Hall in Ladner to protest news by-law changes that will adversely affect their homes and according to them, will have a negative impact on their property values.
Delta Council received 3196 written signatures in opposition and 126 in support of the new proposed Bylaw 7600 that seeks to amend the size of homes that can be built in North Delta. The public hearing lasted more than four hours. Of the 45 speakers, 90 percent opposed the new bylaw and stated that North Deltans were being treated unfairly, like second Class Citizens.

There was also opposition to the increased 12m width instead of 11m width for lot subdivision and the secondary suite proposal which says that secondary suites will only be permitted on lots with width of 15m or more.
No decision was made at the public hearing and a council meeting is set for Monday Feb 5th for further discussion.
