OBITUARY – Gurdial “Joe” Johal

Joe Johal, the grandson of one of India’s first pioneers to Canada, passed away peacefully on February 24^th at home surrounded by family.  Joe’s journey started Sept 21, 1946 in Vancouver, he grew up in Kitsalano, attending Henry Hudson Elementary and then Kitsalano High School. He was one of the “cool” kids and his life was full of adventure.  In his later years, Joe’s life was filled with the love for his family, especially his children and grandchildren.  He leaves behind a tremendous amount of people whose hearts he will be in forever. He was one of a kind, a true fighter, and will be greatly missed.  A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 1, 10:00am at Riverside Funeral Home, 7410 Hopcott Road, Delta, followed by a final rites and prayer service at 1:30pm at Brookside Gurdawara, 8365 140^th Street, Surrey.
