SURREY – A blaze that broke out in Surrey’s affluent Fraser Heights neighbourhood on Wednesday has destroyed a three-storey home.

Firefighters arrived at the property, located in a cul-de-sac on 161st Street, shortly before 5 p.m. to battle the fire, but the flames tore apart the home’s roof and gutted the entire top floor.

The blaze sent huge plumes of smoke over the neighbourhood and left a backyard pool on the property covered in ash.

An eyewitness told the LINK that children were crying as flames engulfed the home which despite numerous fire trucks couldn’t be extinguished as it continued to tear apart the home.

“It was very sad to see children crying as no one likes to see their beloved home destroyed and all the dear possessions one holds dear being turned into ashes,” said Nirbhai Singh, who lives nearby. He went to see the home after seeing huge smoke pouring out from near his home on 162,

Fortunately, no one was home and no injuries have been reported.

Firefighters also managed to prevent the fire from damaging any neighbourhing homes.

The cause of the blaze hasn’t been determined.  But there was talk in the neighbourhood that it may have been the electrical, related possibly to the pool’s motor.
