Punjabi Girl Rocking Speedskating in Canada

Prabhnoor Grewal, born and brought up in Surrey, has done the Indo-Canadian community proud recently by winning bronze and gold medals in (T2T 13 female) of youth national “2022 Canadian Youth Short Track Championships (West)” that was hosted by Speedskating Manitoba in Selkirk. Prabhnoor represented Alberta. In January 2022, she got accepted as Alberta Skater and had to transfer provincial status from BC to Alberta in February 2022. Through two qualifiers, and overall performance of the season, Prabhnoor qualified for youth Team Alberta by ranking overall #2 in her category. “There are a few athletes in Speedakating from Punjabi origin in various age groups but rarely seen less at elite youth level. I wish there is more awareness, motivation and engagement from Canadian Punjabi communities into Canada’s rich culture of Winter sports as Canada is home of many of world’s best winter athletes,” says Prabhnoor father Bimal Grewal.
