VANCOUVER – The firstSouth Asian Chapter of CARPwas launched at the Zoomershow held in Vancouver on Feb22. CARP is a national, non-partisan,non-profit organizationcommitted to a ‘New Vision ofAging for Canada’ while promotingsocial change that willbring financial security, equitableaccess to health care and freedomfrom discrimination. Themandate of the organization isto promote and protect theinterests, rights and quality oflife for Canadians as they age.The organization has over300,000 members all acrossCanada. Harpreet Singh, Chairof the South Asian Chapter, feltthe need to have the issues andchallenges of the South Asianshighlighted on the nationalstage. When Moses Znaimerprovided an opportunity,Harpreet and his team decidedto start a Chapter focusing onthe needs of the community.The Chapter will communicatewith the community at large toraise awareness on various issuesso that the needs are addressedat the municipal, provincial andnational level.
