WHITE ROCK – Justin Trudeau Liberals have brought in Gordie Hogg to try to steal another Conservative seat in a just announced by-election. This one’s a high profile South Surrey—White Rock seat vacated by former Conservative MP Dianne Watts, who is currently seeking the BC Liberal leadership.

Hogg, a former BC Liberal MLA and Minister, has been acclaimed to be nominated by South Surrey—White Rock Liberals as the official Team Trudeau candidate in the upcoming federal by-election.

Hogg is an accomplished community leader with decades of dedicated public service both as a former Mayor of White Rock and as a Member of the BC Legislative Assembly.

“Gordie has served the people of White Rock and South Surrey for several decades, and he is a proven advocate for middle class B.C. families,” said Anna Gainey, President of the Liberal Party of Canada. “He will be a strong champion for South Surrey—White Rock in Ottawa, and we are very proud to welcome him to Team Trudeau for this important by-election.”

Hogg will work closely with Justin Trudeau to grow and strengthen the middle class in BC, and support every family working hard to join it.  He has deep roots in White Rock, where he and his wife raised their son, and he understands what it takes to create good middle class jobs for families in South Surrey—White Rock.

While representing his community as Member of the BC Legislative Assembly for twenty years, Hogg’s roles in government included serving as Minister of Children and Family Development, Minister of State for Mining, and Minister of State for ActNow BC.  He also brings important experience from his previous service on White Rock City Council – including 10 years as Mayor of White Rock.

Hogg recently completed his PhD at Simon Fraser University, where he was appointed as Adjunct Professor for the School of Criminology.

He has acted as a board member on more than 15 committees and non-profit societies, including the Peace Arch District Hospital. He has also been a foster parent and little league coach.
