FATEHGARH SAHIB – The district police claimed to have solved the mystery of blind murder of Maninder Singh, alias Neenu, 25, of Ghel village with the arrest of his elder brother Charanjit Singh, alias Channi. The police also recovered the dagger used in the crime.
Addressing mediapersons here today, SSP Gurmeet Singh Randhawa said on April 9, Channi of Ghel village lodged an FIR that his younger brother Maninder Singh was sleeping in a tubewell room in the fields and certain unidentified persons killed him with sharp-edged weapons. The police registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC and started investigations.
The SSP said during police investigation one Bikramjit Singh, resident of the same village, told the police that he along with Channi were consuming liquor and he revealed to him that he had murdered his younger brother as he was a drug addict and he wanted to grab his share of land.
The SSP said he took his brother to their fields at 9 pm and offered him drugs and murdered with a dagger. He told the police that in lust for grabbing his share of land, he murdered him.
