The Prasad family is sad to announce that their mother, grandmother and family matriarch Savitri (née Rambisessar) passed away peacefully on January 21, 2017 at a fabulous 94 years old. She was blessed with a full and healthy life.
Born in Fiji, in her 50s Savitri courageously immigrated to Canada, mastered English, and gracefully blended cultures. She created family wherever she was, and has many heart adopted sons, daughters, and grandchildren whom she dearly loved. Everyone called her Mom. Savitri enjoyed life – from her travels across the globe, to her many pleasant walks in False Creek – her humour, affection and great cuisine were a constant in the lives of those who knew and loved her. She will be truly missed by her immediate and extended family and friends.
Survived by her devoted children Anita, Suresh and Munna, daughters-in-law Suzanne and Peggy, granddaughters Sonia and Donella, great-grandson Colton, sisters Chandra and Kamla, and many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. Savitri was predeceased by her daughter Amla, husband Ram and several siblings.
As Savitri wished, her funeral will be held at Hamilton Mortuary (5390 Fraser St., Vancouver) on Saturday January 28th at 10 am. In lieu of flowers please donate to BC Children’s Hospital, BC Cancer Agency, or your local Food Bank.
