20 Booked After Gang Shootout At Goindwal Sahib

TARN TARN – A shootout by a gang of over 20 persons in Goindwal Sahib, 25 km from here, spread panic in the area. The shopkeepers hurriedly downed their shutters and ran to save themselves.

The Goindwal Sahib police have registered a case under Sections 307, 379, 427, 506, 148, 149 of the IPC, and 25, 27, 54, 59 of the Arms Act against the accused.

Sanjeevan Kumar, officiating SHO, said one of the accused was Bikramjit Singh of Assal Utar (Khemkaran) village, who was armed with .315-bore rifle and was leading the gang.

Gurwinder Singh, resident of the Fatehbad township, who was the main target of the gang and had a narrow escape, lodged complaint with the police. Gurwinder alleged that the accused led by Bikramjit Singh came to the spot in vans and motorcycles. They allegedly opened firing at him but he managed to escape by hiding somehere. The accused tried to search for him but failed.

Gurwinder and the main accused, Bikramjit Singh, were employees of the Goindwal Thermal Plant and they had some dispute over money-laundering. None of the accused has been arrested so far.
