SURREY – All Star Wrestling crowned a new heavyweight champion last Friday night as Rish “Mister India” Koya defeated Nick Rogers for the coveted All Star Wrestling Trans Canada Championship at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.

Mister India defeated Rogers with a vicious Rock Bottom out of nowhere to end Roger’s title reign and becomes the first Indo-Canadian to hold the top title in the All Star Wrestling league.

“I have been wrestling for 20 years and I am the top good guy in All Star Wrestling. If I win tomorrow night I will be the very first Indo Canadian Heavyweight Champion in the long of history of All Star Wrestling here in BC. The build up for this match has been months in the making and it all leads to tomorrow night’s event,” Koya said Friday before his match.

“I am a very proud Canadian and also very proud of my Indian heritage and I know I will make history Friday night.”

When asked how he felt after the big win, Mister India had this to say. “Redeemed. He injured my neck and put me on the shelf for the last three months. This is how I take my revenge, by taking this belt away from him.”

Talking to the All Star fans at the sold out Alice Mckay building in Cloverdale, he continued, “You now have a champion you can be proud of. A fighting champion that will take on anyone in that locker room and all comers. I am your champion and represent each and every one of you. I will not let you down.”

Mister India lives in New Westminster where he is the Head Coach at Koyabell Fitness. Koyabell Fitness is his own brand of kettlebell training that he has created over the years and is now sharing in a group class format. “To be the champ, you need to train like a champ. Performance based strength and power conditioning is my modality of training. We all need to be functionally fit; it’s go muscle over show muscle. Do it right and you will have both.”

So far, his wrestling career has spanned 20 years and in that time, he has won many titles with this being his first major heavyweight championship win. He is also the first Indo-Canadian wrestler to hold this title.

“First off, it’s such a privilege to hold this belt. There have been so many great wrestlers who have had this championship in the long history of All Star Wrestling. Then to be the first champion of South Asian descent, wow, it is truly an honour.”

There is not much time for rest as Mister India has his first title defense on January 28th, an automatic rematch with the former champion Nick Rogers.

“I have beat him once and I will beat him again. This belt is not going anywhere for a very long time. It’s going to stay around the sleek and sexy waist of Mister India!”
