the crowds flock to the shrine
like bees to the flowers
for the nectar.
and remain oblivious
to the joys and despairs of
other drifters.
I look forward to eternity
but what I seek
no longer exists here.
*Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, New Delhi, was once a bungalow belonging to Raja Jai Singh in the 17th century and five years old Guru Har Krishan Sahib stayed there. He died of smallpox, aged just eight years.
