the crowds flock to the shrine

like bees to the flowers

for the nectar.

and remain oblivious

to the joys and despairs of

other drifters.

I look forward to eternity

but what I seek

no longer exists here.

*Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, New Delhi, was once a bungalow belonging to Raja Jai Singh in the 17th century and five years old Guru Har Krishan Sahib stayed there. He died of smallpox, aged just eight years.
