Only 28 per cent of respondents to a poll conducted feel Clark’s government is doing a good job.

VANCOUVER – According to a new online survey, the people of this province feel the government isn’t handling the issue of education well, reported News 1130..

Mario Canseco with Insights West says just 28 per cent of respondents to a poll conducted by his firm feel Premier Christy Clark’s government is doing a good job on that file.

“Going back six months ago, it’s not something where we expected them to do that badly,” Canseco said. “What’s interesting there is, it’s really more geared towards these difficulties they’ve had connecting with the teachers.”

He notes this comes in the midst of contract conflict with the BC Teachers Federation over a new contract.

“I think what we see from the numbers is that people want to see solutions,” Canseco said. “They’re not happy with the animosity that the government has to the BCTF.”

As for the handling of its negotiations with the teachers federation specifically, 63 per cent of those who participated in the survey said the government is doing a bad job.
