DELTA – In an effort to fight Islamophobia and dispel misconceptions about Islam, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’ is opening its mosques to everyone across the country.
It’s part of a nation-wide “Visit a Mosque” campaign which comes just days after the deadly New Zealand mosque shootings, which left dozens dead.
Canadians will have an opportunity to learn about the teachings of Islam and meet their Muslim neighbours and friends.
“Mosques and prayer centers of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at across the country will be open throughout the week for Canadians to visit,” read a release from the campaign. “The “Visit a Mosque” campaign aims to dispel misconceptions about Muslims and build bridges of understanding.”
The campaign is also taking place here in Metro Vancouver, in Delta at the Baitur Rehman Mosque.
