Kiruthika Rathanaswami, the recipient of the 2012 city of Vancouver “Mayor’s Arts Award – Emerging Artist-Dance”, will be performing a bharata natyam dance on September 19th and 20th at the Roundhouse Community Centre. Over the past few years Kiruthika has been a part of many of Mandala Arts and Culture Society’s professional productions and presentations as a soloist, and ensemble. Aside from many such performances in Vancouver, Kiruthika has also performed in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Edmonton. Some of her notable performances include: The Temptation of Buddha (2006); The Monk and the Courtesan (2008); Honourable Governor General of Canada Michaelle Jean (2009); Canada Dance Festival (2010); Gait to the Spirit Festival (2011), Horizon Series (2013); and Feats Festival (2015). Kiruthika will present a new repertoire choreographed by Jai Govinda, Artistic Director of Mandala Arts and Culture Society and recipient of both the 2014 “Mayor’s Arts Awards-Honouree/Dance” and 2006 Dance Centre’s “Isadora Award.”
