VANCOUVER – Some of the biggest stars of Bollywood, with thirteen of the 100 plus celebrities destined for Vancouver, have begun arriving via the Vancouver International Airport with star couple Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan to be the first ones of the lot.
Many will arrive today, Tuesday April 2 and make their way through Vancouver International Airport throughout the day (flights land at 1:25pm, 2:35pm and 6:40pm).
YVR has set up an official Welcome Area for fans and media – located in the East Concourse, International Terminal, Level 3 (Departures) near the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel.
Aishwarya Rai, who will be performing with her husband Abhishek Bachchan at the TOIFA awards to be held in Vancouver, were spotted chilling out with choreographer Shiamak Davar. The couple arrived with 16-month-old daughter Aaradhya on Monday.
The controversial event has faced many criticisms, including being racist to local South Asians working in the hospitality industry like limo drivers and security guards. The event is hoping to turn things around with star power, glamour and glitz but it remains to be seen if three days worth of Bollywood parties was worth the $11 million the Christy Clark government spent on the event.
No doubt many people are making money off this event but it will be left to the next government which arrives on May 14 to get to the bottom of all the expenses related to the event and if everything was done above board.
