NEW DELHI – Congress MP from Dhaurahra, UP and MoSHRDJitinPrasada says recent attempts by BSP and SP to woo brahman community will not lead to any electoral gains as the community can see through their vote bank politics.

“BSP and SP remember brahmans only at the time of elections. Under BSP’s regime there were maximum cases registered against brahmans under the Harijan act. Under 18 months of SP government in the state, the community still fights for adequate representation,” he said.

Speaking exclusively with ToI, Prasada added that the community comprises of learned men and now can see through this rhetoric. “The brahman community of UP knows that these parties have no concrete plans for them. They are just being lured as elections are around.

Prasada added that these false promises being made by SP and BSP will only further alienate the brahman community from them as they felt “humiliated at being treated as mere vote bank and their functions being treated as just photo-ops.”

He added that any community needs better infrastructure and job opportunities rather than hollow promises. Prasada affirmed that recent statements by parties were just an attempt by these parties to divert the attention from their poor governance.
