KHANNA – Two incidents of rape have rocked the sleepy town of Khanna. In the first incident, the conductor of a private bus, along with his accomplice, was booked for raping an 18-year–old girl from Doraha.
In the second incident, a resident of Ghungrali Rajputa village near Khanna was booked for raping a 20-year-old mentally challenged and handicapped woman.
The first incident took place on Saturday when the woman was visiting a temple at Doraha. The victim stated that when she was returning home, the conductor allegedly offered her water that was laced with sedative.
She said that after drinking the water, she started feeling nausea. When she woke up the next day, she was shocked to find herself lying in the bus at Sahnewal bus stand. She suffered injuries on her private parts and somehow managed to contact her parents.
Soon, her parents arrived on the scene and reported the matter to the police. After two days of investigation, the police registered a case against bus conductor Manjit Singh and his accomplice. The accused are evading arrest.
In the second incident, Sukhjit Singh alias Mika of Guungrali Rajputa village was booked for raping a 20-year-old mentally challenged woman. It is learnt that the woman now is four-month pregnant.
