Sidak Leadership Retreat

The Sikh Research Institute is getting ready for its annual Sidak Leadership Retreat. We invite you to spend two weeks with us this summer in beautiful British Columbia as we immerse ourselves into Sikh culture, language, values and community! It will take place from July 24th to August 6th in Mission, BC.

You have the choice of Sikhi 101, Sikhi 201, or Gurbani 101. It is important for us to make Sidak as accommodating as possible; Sidak is made available for young families by providing a Jr. Sidak experience to children from the ages of 2 to 8 years of age. For detailed information on each of the tracks, and Jr. Sidak please visit the Sidak webpage at SikhRI.org/sidak/. To apply for a track please visit https://sikhri.org/sidak/application/.

For information about the location please visit the campsite link at khalsacentre.ca. Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Sidak Coordinator, Gugan Kaur at your earliest convenience. We hope to see you in July!

Interfaith Fasting Symposium In Abbotsford

Event: The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada is holding an event titled “Fasting – a Divine Source of Spiritual & Physical Health” in Abbotsford, British Columbia. This event explores questions about fasting, such as how fasting can improve spiritual & physical health. Prominent Christian, Hindu and Muslim scholars will present their viewpoints on the topic at hand. One positive aspect of fasting, which is now acknowledged by a section of scientists, is that diet-control for one period in a year is beneficial for human health. Fasting also reminds us about poverty and world hunger, and helps us sympathize with those who are deprived of food and water every day. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, which will be donated to a local food bank. We can pick up upon request.

When:              Saturday, June 25, 2016 – 7:30pm – 9:00pm

Where:            Azalea Room, Garden Park Tower – 2825 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, BC V2T 6S3
