CALGARY – Calgary’s Taste of India restaurant was ordered closed by Alberta Health Services on June 14 after the restaurant was found to be littered with mice shit.

The situation at the restaurant, located on the corner of 11th Avenue and 14th Street, was so bad that the health inspector noted mouse droppings throughout the kitchen and dining room, including on a cart holding spices and sauces by the grill, on top of food ingredient containers, on a stainless steel counter, and around a stand mixer.

The inspector ordered a restaurant closed after finding mouse droppings throughout the establishment, including in a sauce. Imagine the people who ate food at the establishment prior to the shutdown, reported Postmedia.

Records at the restaurant showed a pest control operator had last been to the establishment on May 30.

Aside from mouse contamination, the inspector found grease and food debris on various surfaces and in the deep fryer. “An accumulation” of dirty dishes were found stored on the floor.

The restaurant has been ordered to remain closed until a thorough cleaning has been done, a pest control company has eliminated the mouse infestation, and the owner has completed an administrative review meeting with AHS.
