CHANDIGARH – Senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu today joined the chorus with other Punjab Congress leaders, flagging non-implementation of the pending poll promises.

Another Cong MLA Surjit Dhiman joins anti-CM chorus

Sidhu tweeted, “No action on drugs, no action on sacrilege, no White Paper on power purchase agreements, no action on mafia raj. Only action against your party colleagues to protect the Badals and Majithia.” The disgruntled party leaders comprising ministers Sukhjinder Randhawa and Charanjit Singh Channi, MLA Pargat Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa met yesterday and decided to continue their fight to push for action in sacrilege and police firing cases, action against drug menace, White Paper on power purchase agreements and end of the mafia raj.

Sources said Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, former party president Rahul Gandhi and AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were taking independent feedback from Punjab leaders on the situation. A senior leader said Punjab affairs in-charge Harish Rawat yesterday assured the disgruntled leaders to reach back after taking up the matter with the high command. He is expected to interact with ministers and MLAs soon.

The leaders, along with other ministers and MLAs, gathered at the residence of MLA Kulbir Zira in Ferozepur where they had gone to mourn the death of his father Inderjit Zira.
