BATHINDA – Targeting the alleged nepotism prevailing in the country and the state, Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab observer Sanjay Singhclaimed the party would form the next government in the state after the 2017 Assembly elections. He was addressing a gathering on the occasion of Baisakhi Mela here.

“In Delhi, the AAP government has announced Rs 50,000 per hectare as compensation to the farmers who faced crop loss. The SAD-BJP government here has announced the lowest compensation to farmers. It has also ratified the anti-farmer land acquisition Bill. Like many other states, Punjab is also a victim of nepotism. Political parties here have turned into private firms with members of particular families controlling their affairs,” he said.

Sanjay also appealed to the masses to join the movement against the land acquisition Bill and reach the Jantar Mantar in Delhi on April 22.

Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann said the meeting organised by Yogendra Yadav in Gurgaon was not an official meeting of the AAP. Party workers who attended it would face action, he said.

HS Phoolka said, “The SIT formed by the Modi government has failed to come up with any fruitful results as it has been inactive since its inception. The Centre has failed to take any step towards investigation into cases of 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom.”

Meanwhile, infighting in the party came to the fore when stage organiser Harmel Singh attempted to stop Jassi Jasraj, forcing him to conclude his speech hurriedly.
