“Congress And BJP Are Both Very Evil”, Says Arvind Kejriwal

NEW DELHI – His government’sgone, his future is uncertain.And he doesn’t have ahouse beyond six months. Butthat hasn’t affected ArvindKejriwal’s spunkiness. Helooked relaxed as he defendedhis government’s performanceand discussed:You did a referendum beforeforming government butresigned without one. Why? Tosuit your convenience?When Congress offered us support,I was personally againsttaking it. But a number of wellwishersaccused us of runningaway from responsibility. Wefaced a dharam sankat. That iswhy we went to the people. Wealso had the time to do so. Thistime it was a black-and-whiteissue. The Lokpal Bill was notnegotiable. It’s because of theLokpal Bill that we entered politics.Lokpal and Swaraj are twonon-negotiable issues for us. Itwas clear that without these twobills, we were nothing.Many say AAP was looking foran excuse to quit government.The evidence to back this claimis that posters proclaiming thegovernment’s achievementswere put up across Delhiovernight.The biggest evidence againstthat is that I moved into my newhouse just 10 days back. Mydaughter has her board examand we are, so to say, without ahouse. I won’t be moving out ofthis house at present and payinstead the market rent. Frankly,our assessment was that BJPand Congress did not want thegovernment to fall. We actuallyfelt that the Lokpal Bill wouldget passed, and then perhaps theCentre would keep it on hold.But in the Assembly, both BJPand Congress voted against usdespite giving leave to me tointroduce it. Our informationwas that the two parties wouldabstain from voting or stage awalkout. It’s just a co-incidencethat the posters were put uparound the same time. In fact, Ihad asked for them to be put upwhen the government completeda month but there was somelethargy and the posters wereput up around the same timewhen we resigned.You’ve said your governmentfell because you filed an FIRagainst Mukesh Ambani. That’swhy BJP and Congress cametogether. But this FIR was notpart of your manifesto. Wheredid it suddenly come from?I received a complaint, we wentthrough it and realized thatthere was merit in it. Then wepassed it on to the anti-corruptionbranch. Like I said, we hadinformation that BJP andCongress did not want the governmentto fall. So whatchanged their outlook? Webelieve it was the FIR againstAmbani.It’s said the Ambani FIR hascreated apprehension about youin the business community?Not at all. The business communityis quite happy with us. Theywant to do honest business.Mukesh Ambani representscrony capitalism. Businessmen,99% of them, want to do honestbusiness. The Ambani brothersdo not allow anyone else to dobusiness and have taken overeverything.The Delhi assembly has beenput in suspended animation andPresident’s Rule declared. Whatwill you do now?You keep government in suspendedanimation when you areexploring the possibility offorming a government. But neitherCongress, nor BJP wants toform a government. My conjectureis that BJP does not want todo horse-trading before the LokSabha elections, but after thepolls, they won’t have anyqualms about it. But the questionis: why is Congress enablingBJP to do it? Because of theAmbani FIR? Look I have noevidence, but I also have informationthat the members of theanti-corruption bureau probingthis case may be changed.What will we do next? Fight theLok Sabha elections.And as for Delhi, we are discussing…we will challenge thedecision to keep the House insuspended animation.
