Prime Minister Stephen Harper joined party MP Deepak Obhrai in lighting the traditional Diwali lamp at the 12th National Diwali Celebration held in Ottawa on November 1st. “Ladies and gentlemen, this national celebration of Diwali is now, as has been mentioned, in its twelfth year. It is an annual reminder that Canada’s embrace of pluralism, is not just an act of faith, but it is a product of experience,” Harper said.
