MEERUT – A 42-year-old doctor was beaten to death allegedly by three youths after he pulled them up for harassing his daughter, police said on Tuesday. The trio has been arrested.

Eye specialist Dr Indresh Parashar, a resident of Ganganagar area of Meerut, was beaten to death by the three brothers late on Monday night when he was on his way home from Parikshitgarh, where his clinic is located. The three brothers – Nishu, Rahul and Monu — who were also his neighbours, attacked him, when he reached Global City colony. They were armed with iron rods, a bat and sticks. To save himself, Parashar tried to flee and entered a local gym.

However, his assailants followed him there as well and rained blows on him till he fell unconscious.

For half an hour, the doctor lay there even as a crowd assembled waiting for the police to arrive. Thereafter, he was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

In the FIR filed by the doctor’s wife, Neelam, it was mentioned that the three accused used to pass vulgar comments at their daughter and on Monday, Dr Parashar had complained to their father after which they had resorted to this action.
