A dog filed to run for mayorof a US city but the campaignwas cut short as the canine’spaper work was not in order.Dylan Westie, a West HighlandWhite Terrier, filed to run formayor of Irving, Texas, saying ina prepared statement that “a significantportion of council leadershiphas gone to the dogs.”Mike Howard, the dog’s owner,agent and attorney, on Tuesday,filed a petition on the Terrier’sbehalf to be on the ballot for theMay 5 election, CBS Newsreported.But the campaign quicklycollapsed as Westie’s candidateforms were so riddled with technicalerrors that the city rejectedthem even before considering hisspecies.Howard filed the petition, completewith valid signatures to putDylan’s name on the ballot.The paperwork explained, Dylanis a registered “son of a… femaleWestie.”However, the city saidDylan’s not a registered voter andtherefore, does not qualify.Howard said Dylan has someserious thoughts about the problemsplaguing Irving and has eventaken to Twitter to have his barkheard. “He does not do a greatjob at typing. But…you’ll findsome really good tweets outthere, Howard was quoted as saying.Howard has been writingpolitical satire since 1984.On being asked by The DallasMorning News that why he failedto notarise either his signature orDylan’s signature, he said “Itwould be a paw print, had I lethim sign. I did not want to get inkon his paws.”
