BEIJING – Hong Kong authorities havetightened vigil on the city’s borders fearinglarge scale infiltration of sex workersfleeing a crackdown in China.Mainland Chinese police have launched acampaign targeting sex workers, called’exterminate yellow’ — the colour associatedwith prostitution.The commissioner of Hong Kong policesaid that the crackdown has raised fearsof a spiralling increase in sex trade in thecity.”Sex trade will bring with it all the usualvices: narcotics and money laundering,”Hong Kong-based South China MorningPost said, quoting a Hong Kong policeofficial.Dongguan, near Hong Kong, is popularlyknown as “sex city” because of itsmassive sex trade.It was recently raided by 6,000 policemenwho arrested 900 sex workers.Shenzhen which is also known for establishmentsoffering sex services is 40kmaway.The Chinese police also razed over 2,000entertainment establishments used asfronts for the sex trade in cities of southChina. Migration of people from Chinais common and locals were becomingintolerant about it.A group demonstrated against “Chineselocusts” in Hong Kong on Sunday andaccused high-spending Chinese migrantsand tourists of pushing up prices.
