Tri-City residents have had to wait years for rapid transit but on Friday the wait finally ended as the 11-kilometre, nearly $1.5-billion Evergreen SkyTrain line opened at noon Friday, connecting the area to downtown Vancouver. Mayors in the northeast sector have lobbied for the line for years, but it was delayed in favour of the Canada Line for the Olympics.
