Flesh Trade Racket Busted, Congress Leader Among 11 Arrested

FEROZPUR – The district police busted a flesh trade racket and arrested 11 persons, including a Congress candidate for the 2012 assembly elections, a head constable, five women and a hotel owner.

Hardial Singh Mann, SSP, said following a tipoff, a raid was conducted by a police team led by SP (Detective) Raghubir Singh and DSP Jagjit Singh. The SSP said five couples were rounded up from two hotels booked under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, 1956. One of arrested persons was later identified as Malkiat Singh, who had contested the 2012 Vidhan Sabha elections against Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal from Jalalabad (W) on the Congress ticket.

Of the arrested girls, three were married with grown up kids. The other two were minors. The SSP said Narinder Kumar, alias Sweety, owner of Green Hotel in the heart of the cantonment area had been arrested while that of another hotel had fled. These hotels are located in the high security cantonment area in close proximity to the District Courts complex.
