Former Congress MLA Questions Captain Amarinder Singh’s Silence On Police Atrocities

JALANDHAR – In a ‘not so veiled’ attack on PPCC chief captain Amarinder Singh, former Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira has written an open letter to him stating that party cadres are feeling disgruntled with him and that the party could go UP or Bihar way if leaders keep on ignoring police atrocities on Congress workers.

He has also alleged in the letter that Captain’s close aide and Dhuri MLA Arvind Khanna was frequently visiting Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal’s residences.

He has pointed that media, judiciary some NGOs or smaller political groups appeared to be playing better opposition than Congress on various issues concerning people. “An impression is fast gaining ground that probably you have entered into some kind of tacit understanding with the Badals to avoid any direct confrontation,” the letter reads.

He has also asked in the letter that why was Captain not speaking out against illegal appointment of Sumedh Saini as Punjab DGP which is now under Punjab and Haryana High Court scanner and why was not state unit making police atrocities under him an issue even in cases like death of two persons in village Aklia in Mansa recently.

“Our workers are questioning silence of the party on such issues against police that too when Captain himself had been raising the issue of political vendetta through police very strongly. Party ranks are disgruntled and Congress is leaving space to other groups on issues concerning its workers and people the party may go on the path of UP and Bihar,” Khaira argued while r eleasing the letter in a press conference here on Saturday. Khaira said that he had written to Captain conveying the sentime
