In a new twist to actress Jiah Khan’s suicide case, theBombay High Court on Wednesday asked the Mumbai policeto reinvestigate the matter properly once again.

The Bombay High Court on Wednesdayasked police to carry out further investigationson allegations made by themother of actress Jiah Khan in a petitionthat the latter had been murdered and hadnot committed suicide.A bench of Justices S C Dharmadhikariand Gautam Patel asked Juhu policeto record statement of Jiah’s mother RabiaKhan on October 26 at 11 am in thepolice station.The judges asked the police to carryout further investigations on the materialfurnished before the court that the actorhad been killed.Government Pleader K V Saste informedthat police was all set to filecharge sheet inthe trial courtwithin a week.The court didnot stop policefrom filingcharge sheet inthe trial courtbut orderedthem to carryout further investigationsonthe basis ofmaterial providedby Jiah’smother indicatingthat the actor had been murdered.“If necessary, additional charge sheetcan be filed by police on the aspect ofmurder, “ the court said while disposingof Rabia’s petition.The pleader said that police had recordedstatement of Rabia three timesearlier. However, the court asked himwhat was the difficulty in recording yetanother statement on the basis of allegationthat the actor was murdered. To this,the pleader replied that the police wouldonce again record Rabia’s statement.To a request made by Rabia’s lawyerAbad Ponda, the court asked police to recordher statement on October 26. Rabiawas present in the court today. Ponda arguedthat his client wanted truth to prevail.At the moment, she was not pressingfor transfer of probe to the CBI as pleadedin the petition. The court, therefore,did not pass any order on Rabia’s plea totransfer investigations to CBI.Jiah’s mother alleged that it has cometo light that her daughter may have beenkilled and made to look asif she committed suicide.To support her argument,Rabia annexed to the petitionan independentforensic expert’s reportwhich indicated this caseto be of homicidal deathrather than suicide.Alleging shoddy investigationsby police onlyto help Jiah’s boyfriend Suraj Pancholi,Jiah’s mother demanded a CBI probe intothe case. Rabia said “she had strong reasonsto suspect that the probe was carriedout by police in a manner to look as if itwas a suicide.”She alleged that Suraj is son of actorAditya Pancholi and the family used theirclout to “manage” police. The petitionalleged that Jiah may have been hangedafter being killed. It cited reasons to supportthis theory.The petition argued that a personwho commits suicide would have his orher eyes popping and tongue protrudingout, while in case of Jiah it was not so.Also, in such cases lung or brain hemorrhageis generally noticed but in this casethis was not observed.The petition said that besides ligaturemarks that occur in death due to hanging,injury marks were noticed on face andbody of the actor. An injury was noticedon right side of her lips and a mark onher left arm as if someone had held hertightly.
