FEROZEPUR – The Ferozepur police today seized heroin worth Rs 20 crore from a village near the India-Pakistan border and arrested a drug courier.

Just over a week ago, the Punjab Police in a joint operation with Counter Intelligence sleuths had seized heroin worth over Rs 60 crore.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varinder Pal Singh said a special team led by Inspector Gurbehj Singh, incharge CIA staff, had apprehended a person identified as Jagwinder Singh, resident of Tarn Taran, from an area between Madhre village and Ghulam Hussainwala. The team was on patrol when it seized 4 kg of heroin that was smuggled into the country from Pakistan.

The SSP said the consignment was to be handed over to another drug peddler. They were making enquiries to nab the persons who were to receive the delivery.
