Hindi Divas Celebrated In Vancouver

Hindi Divas is celebrated on September 14 every year to promote and popularize Hindi language around the world where Hindi lovers and advocates live. It is also celebrated to commemorate the date 14 September ,1949 on which a compromise was reached, after three years of hard debate and discussion,during the draft of Constitution of India. The compromise is known as Munshi-Ayyangar formula-Hindi as “official language of India” of federal government and English as “associate language” for 15 years but after lapse of time it has been extended.

Respected Manish ji,Consul General of India, organized the celebration of Hindi Divas with the support of nine organizations-Hindi Literary Society of Canada, Ganesh Hindi School, Global Hindu Foundation, Writers International Network, Indian Cultural Association, Indian Art &Literary Association, Varad Ashram(ISHWA), Gurookul and Manswini.

Manish ji inaugurated the function by lighting lamp followed by video-message relay of India’s foreign minister Dr. S. Jaishankarand state Minister Meenakshi Lekhi. CG focused on the global importance of Hindi in his speech. Emcees were well known media personalities-Harish Masand and Vasundhara Rogan; and were impressive and articulate in introducing the events. The celebration included nukkadnatak, group dance, song, poetry recitation and speech. All items were awesome, inspirate and educational. Moreover, the enthusiasm and passion for Hindi were fully reflected in their presentation.

All the societies, associations and participants were felicitated by CGwith certificate of appreciation. Manjish Grover, Consul, at the end, thanked the participants and guests.
