Meet Your Maker Alien Prequel Has It’s Moments But No Where Near Classic Scyfi!

by ALAN SAMUEL

Beware of unexplored islands.  A trip to a strange planets turns out to be quite the ordeal for a hot shot crew of scientic explorers in Prometheus.

Back after a bit of an abscense, master director Ridley Scott  continues to pile on the thrills in this adult space yarn that puts the horror back into everyday vocabulary. Worth seeing if you’re into seeing space encounters of the “unpleasant” kinds, this event movie from 20th Century Fox is now drawing long lines of patrons to the Empire Studio 12, Colossus and Cineplex Odeon theatres throughout British Columbia.  Expect this film to capture a number of Oscar nominations particulary   in the cinematography, editing and more technical categories.  Oh, and it’s also a pretty creative imaginative escapist yarn with an eerie feel of discovery.  Hope and fear and a host of human emotions run wild in Prometheus, especially when the unthinkable occur.  Brace yourself for the slow building slow burning carnage about to drape over our brave space voyagers.

Said to be a prequel of sorts to the chilling Aliens encounter many years back, Prometheus has all the drive and fear of its original counterpart.  A sense of eeriness envelops the screen as we are led onto a brave new world full of tremendous pitfalls. Once these brave men and women go into the bowels of this strange new planet it doesn’t take long for cracks to develop between them and emotions boil over as bad things begin to develop.  You are not alone is truer than ever once a menace enshrouds the crew with no apparent easy way out.

A fresh cast and superior special effects helps make Prometheus a sight to behold.  Among the cast to remember here are busy Michael Fassbender as a strange android robot with feelings and a superior intellect and Noomi Rapace as a fearless babe on a mission.  Let us not forget Charlize Theron as another commanding babe who can’t quite make up her mind what to do next.

Yes, the chills and thrills come to the fore as the crew encounter true fear on a routine mission that proves quite deadly.  Despite a slow build-up the payoff is substantial as a monster on the loose succeeds in scaring the living daylights of everyone in sight of this kiling rampage.

Smart, scary and effective, Prometheus is a top notch science fiction horror thriller sure to delight fans of this genre.
