Vivacious, spunky, pleasingly talkative and “definitely single” Neha Sharma, confesses, “It’s so much fun being single. I can concentrate on my work without any distraction.” Neha who claims to be “living” her “dream” seemed at home in her plush hotel suite.
Neha, whose latest screen outing Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is slated to hit the theatres soon, says it’s “been a lot of hard work shooting and promoting the film.” But she is totally enjoying the entire process. Neha says with a beatific smile, “I’m young and hard working, so I want to make the most of this current phase of my life where I can do a lot of work and achieve what I crave for. This is the right time to do all I want.”
But things haven’t been all that smooth for Neha, whose last few outings haven’t been very successful at the box-office. Neha’s debut Bollywood film Crook, opposite Emraan Hashmi, failed at the BO, even though her first Telugu film Chirutha opposite Ram Charan Tej was a moderate success. “When I started off my film career I didn’t know that a flop could impact my life so much! When Crook didn’t work, I saw how people’s behaviour changed towards me,” she ruefully quips.
And now she seems closer to reality, “I know I will have to work really hard to make it big in the film industry. Neither was I born with the silver spoon in my mouth, nor do I have a filmy background or even a godfather to back me. I’m aware that things won’t come easily to me. It will be tough, but I’m enjoying my journey a lot.”
And determined as she is to make it to the top, Neha admits she will not do anything that makes her feel “uncomfortable” and “push” her out of “my comfort zone. I will refrain from doing intimate scenes in the future.”
But seeing the current trend in Bollywood, where almost all films have intimate scenes, how would she manage her choices? She says, “It’s not like I’m not going to do such scenes ever, but only if they are primary to the script. I had an intimate scene with Vivek Oberoi in Jayanta Bhai Ki Love Story, but I was uncomfortable doing it.”
Neha sounds upbeat about her coming days. She says, “I’m looking forward to good work and having a lot of fun.”
