They came in witha weapon and robbed something within 5-10 minutes and go.This kind of robberies happen in India a lot.” The two suspects,described as South Asian and wearing hoodies, fled the homeand drove away in a dark-coloured Honda Civic.

SURREY – An Indo-Canadian family from theNewton area of Surrey was terrorized by a pair of desihome invaders who roughed up the husband and wifeas well as their three children and their nanny when themen pushed into the home looking for the family safe.Victim Rajwinder Halait said the two men burstinto the home around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, roughedup her husband, terrorized three children in the home,and strapped her and a nanny to the stairway banister.Halait said there was no reason not to answerthe door when the bell rang. She thought it was heraunt who had been out walking with one of Halait’s13-month-old twins, but instead it was robbers, reportedCBC News.“I started to look. They were on the side. Theygave me a push and threw me on the stairs, closed mymouth and pulled out a knife,” she said.Halait was home with her other twin, her aunt’stwo daughters and a nanny. Upstairs, all five wereforced to stand against a wall. Then the two womenwere tied to the banister. Originally police reportedfour children were involved and that they’d been tiedup. But the family said there were only three children,none of whom were tied up.Balbir Sandhar, an aunt, said the crying childrenwere taken to the master bedroom and threatened. “They said, ‘I’m your dad’s friend. Yourdad needs money, You show us whereyour safe is,’ and then they said, ‘If youdo not show us then I kill you,'” she toldCBC News. “They show the knife to mykid. They are only 7½ years old.”Sandhar said she was returning from herwalk just as the men were leaving. Herhusband and Halait’s husband, NavpreetSandhar, were also coming home fromwork at the same time.During an altercation in the driveway, shesaid, Navpreet was punched in the faceso hard by one of the men he fell backon the concrete and was taken to hospitalwith a serious head injury”He lose memory,” Sandhar said. “Heask, ‘What happen with me?’ He don’tremember, what the day is today.”The families’ two safes, which contained24-karat gold, cash and passports, aregone.Family friend Dave Mourh said he’sfamiliar with this type of robbery.”It’s an Indian type of robbery.
