RICHMOND – B.C. Senior’s games were held in tri-cities of Castlegar, Nelson and Trail B.C. where more than 3500 athletes over the age of 55 competed in 24 sports ranging from Track and Field, Soccer, Badminton and Tennis from 16- 20 august 2011.
Brothers Mo Herar and Bob Herar competed in Tennis and Badminton. In tennis Mo from Coquitlam won bronze medal in men’s singles and paired with his partner Gurdip Grewal to win the Gold Medal in 70-74 age group. In the same group Paul Aulakh from Richmond won silver medal in men’s singles and also paired with Collin Mclean to won silver medal in doubles.
In Badminton Bob Herar from Burnaby paired with Mike Bernard from north Vancouver to win gold medal in men’s doubles. Bob and his partner Letty Gimenes also won silver medal in mixed doubles .
It is gratifying to see the high calibre of play in these sports. Mo, Bob and Gurdip have been participating in these games for a long time and would like to encourage our senior community members to take active part in these sports.
The organizers and volunteers did a splendid job. The games ended with a beautiful banquet, dinner and dance. In 2012 B.C. Senior’s games will be held in Burnaby from 21 august to 25 august 2011.
