Indo-Canadian Trucker From Toronto Found Murdered At Company Lot

Maninder Singh Sandhu of Brampton had suffered obvious trauma when found at his company lot at Humber College Blvd. and Finch Ave. early Saturday.

TORONTO – Toronto police are investigating a homicide after an Indo-Canadian man was found dead in Etobicoke, early Saturday.

Police have identified him as Maninder Singh Sandhu, 31, of Brampton.

Police from 23 Divison arrived to the scene at BTI Cartage, a transport company on Humber College Blvd. and Finch Ave. shortly after 2:42 a.m. The victim suffered obvious signs of trauma, police said. He was later pronounced dead, reported Toronto Star.

Forensic Identification officers and paramedics were called to the scene.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation.

Sukhi Badial, the owner of BTI Cartage, told the media that Sandhu was recently married.

“He was a very, very good guy. I know his brother. I know his friends … very good person. Hardworking guy,” Badial said.

“I don’t know what could’ve went wrong. I don’t know. It’s very strange. I’m very shocked this happened here. Very shocked.”

Emergency crews were called to BTI Cartage on Humber College Boulevard near Finch Avenue West around 2:40 a.m. after Sandhu was found dead with gunshot wounds.

Officers from 23 Division and the forensics unit initially responded to the call, but the homicide unit was later called in and it has taken over the investigation.

A post-mortem examination was held on Saturday.

Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who was in the area who might have seen or heard something.
