Police are investigating Ottawa's first homicide of the year after the body of a mother of three was discovered in her Barrhaven home Wednesday, Jan. 29.

OTTAWA – Ottawa police have identified43-year-old Indo-Canadian womanas the city’s first homicide victim of 2014after her body was found in a Barrhavenarea home Wednesday ,reported CBCNews.Police were called to 174 Brambling Way,near Greenbank and Cambrian roads, at1 p.m. Wednesday.Jagtar Gill’s body had been discovered byrelatives, a police source said.She was a mother of three children andwas listed as a co-owner of the homealongside Bhupinderpal Singh Gill, anOC Transpo bus driver.An autopsy was performed Thursdaymorning and confirmed that Gill died ofmultiple stab wounds.A police source said the mother of threefound by relatives around 1 p.m.Wednesday was killed by multiple stabwounds..Neighbours told the CBC’s Ryan Gibsonthe area is still under development withfamilies constantly moving into newhomes, so they don’t know the familywell.On Wednesday police canvassed theneighbourhood around 174 BramblingWay, near Greenbank and Cambrianroads.No one has been arrested.Courtesy CBC News
