Recently, religious leaders of Metro Vancouver were the guests, on the occasion of celebration of festival Shavuot, at Congregation Beth Israel in Vancouver. Rabbi Professor Laura Kaplan explained the historical background and importance of the festival. She said that most of the festivals in the Rabbinical tradition are adopted from Bible. Shavuot occurs in spring harvest season and its motto is “Let’s Eat” and feed orphans, widows, immigrants and poor. Focus is also on scriptural reading, interpreting, discussing and re-enacting spiritual stories and myths. It is all meant to improving the spiritual thought patterns. The guests were entertained with delicious brunch.
