SURREY — NDP Leadership candidate Brian Topp fired up supporters at a campaign rally last Sunday in Surrey where he received the endorsement of Surrey’s two NDP Members of Parliament, four provincial MLAs and two nominated candidates.
“New Democrats can win. We can govern well. And we can govern for a purpose: to build a more prosperous and equal Canada for every Canadian,” Topp told supporters. “That’s what my campaign is all about. That’s why I am running to be leader. Together, we can do this.”
On hand for Topp’s speech were Surrey’s two NDP Members of Parliament: Newton-North Delta MP, Jinny Sims and Surrey-North MP, Jasbir Sandhu.
Sims and Sandhu were joined by Surrey-Timbers MLA, Sue Hammell, Surrey-Newton MLA Harry Bains , Surrey-Whalley MLA Bruce Ralston, and Surrey-Fleetwood MLA Jagrup Brar. Also with them were NDP provincial candidates from Surrey, Raj Hundal and Amrik Mihal.
“I am convinced that Brian has was it takes to build on Jack’s legacy and to get the job done,” said Sandhu. “He has the passion, the experience, and the ability to lead us to victory and to deliver positive change for people in Surrey and across Canada.”
