Longshoremen’s Union Helps Out Food Bank

The Longshoremen from Surrey, local ILWU 502, made their yearly Christmas contribution to the Surrey Food bank.  The Union engaged in various unique fundraising events.  In addition to the regular collection they also donated Christmas presents.  In total $2,046 in cash and 800 pounds of food was delivered.

The Union has become involved with various community events in recent years.  In addition to the Food Bank they have also raised thousands for Cancer research as well as the Vancouver Children’s Hospital for which they raised over $20,000 this year.  Local 502 is based in Surrey and serves Fraser Surrey Docks, Delta Port and Westshore Terminals.
