TARN TARAN – Tension gripped the Bhikhiwind area following the death of a local resident, Kuldeep Singh (26). The victim died under mysterious circumstances when a police team tried to nab him for allegedly possessing drugs.
Local residents held a demonstration outside Bhikhiwind police station, demanding action against the accused. They kept the body of the deceased outside the police station and blocked traffic for hours.
The protesters lifted the dharna after a murder case was registered against Anil Kumar, incharge, narcotic cell.
They alleged that Kuldeep Singh was beaten to death by the police as he had failed to bribe them.
Gurcharan Singh, DSP, Bhikhiwind, said further action would be taken after receiving of the post-mortem report. The DSP said according to the police team, Kuldeep Singh died after he consumed some poisonous substance.
