SURREY – Newton-North Delta MP Jinny Sims marked the 66th anniversary this week of South Asians being granted voting rights in Canada. They were also granted the right to citizenship, and the right to vote at every level of government across the country.
“I would like to congratulate the brave groups of South Asians who spent many years working peacefully towards this end,” she said
“As a Canadian Member of Parliament born in India, I wish to acknowledge the importance of such a victory, and the tremendous contributions that South Asian communities have brought to the Canadian mosaic for decades.”
