Muslims Clerics Call For Boycott Of Salman Khan’s Films For The Star Backing Modi

MUMBAI – A section of clerics has askedMuslims to boycott Salman Khan’s films and theproducts he endorses till he apologises for sayingNarendra Modi need not express regret for the2002 Gujarat riots.Angry voices have risen from the communitysince the actor flew kites with the Gujarat CMrecently while publicizing his latest movie andseemingly endorsed the BJP leader’s push to bethe next prime minister. After calling Modi a”great man” in Ahmedabad, Salman told a newschannel last week that there was no need for theCM to apologise for the riots as the judiciary hadgiven him a clean chit.”Salman’s statement thatthere is no need for Modi to say sorry for the 2002riots is provocative and deplorable. It has hurt thesentiments of Muslims and the communityshould boycott the actor’s present and future filmsand the products he endorses unless he apologises,”said Maulana Ejaz Kashmiri, a member of theAll India Ulema Council and an imam at a mosquein Bhendi Bazaar.
