The new Immigration Policy of Obama Administration will grant legal status to young illegal immigrants and will stop deportation of most illegal immigrant students. As per June 15 memo of Secretary, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Janet Napolitano following young illegal immigrants will be covered under the new immigration policy, who:

a)      Came to the United States under the age of 16;

b)      Has continuously resided in the United States for the last five years;

c)       Are currently in school, have graduated from high school or have served in the US   military;

d)      Have not been convicted for any crime; and

e)      Are not above the age of 30

According to attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who practices Immigration and Nationality law in the United States, Obama administration’s new immigration policy will not lead toward citizenship but will remove the threat of deportation and will grant the ability to work legally to those who meet the criteria as per the new policy. “The Obama Administration’s new policy will reward thousands of immigrants who came to USA at a young age, obeyed the US law and continued their education,” added attorney Pannun.
