It is with great sadness that I (Acharya Dwivedi) note the passing of the patriarch of the Dwivedi family, my elder brother- Onkar Prasad Dwivedi. Brother  was born in our ancestral village of Nibawar in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. He came to Canada in 1963 as a student on a scholarship, did MA from Carleton , Ph. D from Queens University and joined the University of Guelph in 1967 where he taught environmental policy and public administration. He authored over 100 books and publications and acted as a special advisor for organizations such as the World Bank, UNESCO, UNO, UNESCAP, WHO, and CIDA. Recipient of the Order of Canada, Royal Society of Canada, and two honorary doctorates for his work in public administration, environmental policy and ethics and  he leaves a lasting legacy. With a strong sense of family and community he was responsible for funding and building a school, an optometric hospital, walk-in clinic, and organizing eye clinics in rural India. He provided guidance to everyone in the family and was a shining example of what a man can achieve in spite of his humble beginnings.
