Hollywood actor of Indian origin, Freida Pinto, 28, who has been living and working in Hollywood ever since she did Slumdog Millionaire (SM) (2008), says she has no 4am friends there. “I don’t have active friends in Hollywood. But, I have friends like writers and publicists. With actors,

you don’t get to know them on the movie sets. We’re just two ships passing by. But you spend a lot of time with publicists and writers, who become friends,” says the actor, who also admits that racism exists in Hollywood.

“Racism exists more among actors of the older generation. The younger generation is more exposed (to other cultures),” she says. She also shares that even after four years in Hollywood, she has to struggle. “Most people think that after SM, the red carpet is rolled out for me. But that’s not true. I honestly enjoy the struggle, and I am getting to see what my predecessors have been through — actors like Saeed Jaffrey and Roshan Seth. These situations make you humble.”
