Police Requesting Public Assistance In Solving Murder Of Lakhwinder Singh Bal

Lakhwinder Singh Bal of Surrey was found unresponsive in the parking lot of McDonald’s restaurant near 129 Street and 96 Avenue.  Bal was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.  IHIT continues to seek the public’s help in solving Bal’s murder.

SURREY – The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is seeking public assistance to further its investigation into the homicide of an Indo-Canadian man who was unresponsive at a Surrey McDonald’s.

On August 19, 2018 at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Surrey RCMP received a report of a fight near the McDonald’s restaurant near 129 Street and 96 Avenue.

When emergency services arrived, they found Lakhwinder Singh Bal of Surrey, unresponsive in the parking lot.  Bal was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.  IHIT continues to investigate.

IHIT has received a number of tips and are appreciative of the information provided.  IHIT is again asking for the public’s help.

Investigators are in search of anyone who may have dash-cam or cell phone video taken in the area of 129 Street and 96 Avenue on the night of August 19, between 8 and 10 p.m.  A map of the area of interest is pictured below.

“Mr. Bal was homeless and living on the streets and died as the result of an assault.” Cpl. David Lee of IHIT says, “There are persons who were travelling through the area who may have recordings, and we ask them to come forward.”
